Brown rice is best when cooked in the oven.


1 ½ cup Brown Rice
2 ½ cup Water
1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
1 tsp Kosher Salt
1 ea Bay Leaf
Black Pepper


  1. Preheat oven to 375°F
  2. Boil water in microwave.
  3. Add rice, butter, bay leaf, salt, and pepper to 9" glass baking dish.
  4. Pour boiling water over rice, cover with foil, and bake for one hour.
